Playoffs Round 1 vs. Rocky Creek

We took one step closer to another championship last night with a decisive 17-5 win over Rocky Creek.

Fighting heat lightning and an umpire who couldn't decide on a strike zone, we kept pounding away and finding ways to get on and score.

Bryan Lehman lead off the game with his first of 2 doubles in the game and finished 3-3 with 2 doubles a triple and a couple of RBIs. Mark Gerdy pitched an effortless game and added a double a triple and an RBI to finish the game 2-3. Josh Mangan blasted 2 more home runs bringing his team leading total to 9 on the year, he had 3 RBIs. Alex Perez had a nice triple negated by over-running 3rd base and getting tagged out (..."I couldn't stop!"). Gary Moneypenny hit the ball hard all night and finished 2-3 with a double and 2 runs.

Not to be outdone by the men, our ladies absolutely punished the opposition by driving in 9 of the 17 runs. Sally Gregoire had 4 RBIs and absolutely crushed the ball every time she got up, she finished 2-2 with 2 runs, 2 doubles and a SAC fly. Christie Popoff had a hit an RBI and a run. Lauren Lehman added 3 more RBI's and an inside the park home run (she also had a GREAT catch at first). Lorene Lake and Lindsay Hazle each had a single. Julia Mangan went 2-2 with a double, 2 runs and an RBI (for those of you scoring at home, that's 5-5, 3 runs, 2 doubles and 3 RBI's in her last 3 games...she's raised her batting average 300 points in the last 3 games, she's hitting .400 on the season!).

Round 1 is done, we play the winner of Kemet vs. Westside #2 at 7:30pm on 8/30 then if/when we win, we'll play at 8:30 the same night for the championship.
