Game 4 vs. Rocky Creek

Yesterday's game was the one game this season that we had to play on the Men's field, but that didn't stop the JD Machine from knocking down another opponent. This time Rocky Creek fell prey to JD's powerful lineup and spectacular defense. JD won 22-4 in 3 innings.

Bryan Lehman led off the game with an inside-the-park home run, he finished 2 for 2 with a home run, a double and 2 RBI's. Alex Perez had a double, 2 RBI's and a run. Gordon Lake nearly tore his shin off by sliding into third base WITH SHORTS ON, but finished with a triple a run and an RBI. Mark Gerdy was monster on the mound and had 2 doubles and an RBI. Sally Gregoire had 3 hits and 2 RBI's, Christie Popoff had 2 hits and 2 RBI's, Lauren Lehman went 3 for 3 with 4 RBI's and an inside-the-park home run (that makes 2 on the day for Lehman's). Jen Sutton continued her solid hitting with 2 more hits a run and an RBI. Susan Elwart also scored a run. Josh Mangan hit his 5th home run in as many at bats (spanning 3 games) on the 2nd pitch he saw, drilling it over the much deeper left field fence (remember, this is the Men's field, not the Co-Ed, the fences are further away). JD improved it's record to 3-1.

We have a BYE next week but will be ready on the 26th when Mauldin Methodist comes to play.

Game 3 vs. Hillside

Our old nemesis, Hillside, came calling last night (we always seem to play these guys tougher than we need to), but we beat them 12-9 for our 2nd victory of the season. Playing with a short staff (only 12 players instead of our usual 17) and in the wee hours of the night (9:30 pm start time) we jumped ahead early and never looked back. Bryan Lehman started off the game with a triple followed by a double by Sally Gregoire (one of our "ringers") which was followed by the first of Josh Mangan's 3 home runs on the night (one of them was an inside-the-parker), he also had 6 RBI's and pitched a great game. Not to be outdone by Josh, Ryan Fisher hit 2 inside-the-park home runs. Lauren Lehman had a single and a run, and Kelsey Johnson had her first hit of her young, promising career, she also scored a run.

It was a good all around team victory and a lot of fun. We play again on Thursday night....

Game 2 vs. Kemet

After dropping the opener, JD looked to bounce back against their latest opponent and former client Kemet.

Bryan Lehman hit the first pitch of the game for a double, then scored on a Kevin Johnson single. Jen Sutton and Victor Angon both knocked in runs in the first inning as well. After going out quietly in the 2nd inning, JD picked up in the 3rd inning with a 5 run outburst. Bryan Lehman hit a home run, Kevin Johnson hit another single then scored on Victor's 3 run home run to cap a 5 run 3rd inning. From there JD never looked back, scoring 7 more runs over the next 2 innings to take a 15-7 victory.

Gordon Lake pitched a perfect inning of relief, scored a run and had an RBI. Jen Sutton was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Josh Mangan hit his first home run of the year (a 2 run shot in the 4th that sealed the win).
