Game 5 vs. Eastminster "You just pitch, we'll catch"

Game 5 was a late game (9:45pm start time), but our hitting was timely and consistent.

Bryan Lehman began the game with a leadoff triple then scored on the next play. Josh Mangan's home run streak came to an end, but not before he blasted his 6th in 6 at bats during the first inning (he still finished the game 3-3 with a home run and 4 RBI). Lauren Lehman found ways to be productive by finishing the game 1-1 with a SAC, a walk, an RBI and a run. Victor Angon was 2-2 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI. Julia Mangan added a hit. Whitney King was 2-3 with a run and an RBI. Alex Perez also had a couple of doubles and 2 RBI. Gary Moneypenny hit the ball about 10 feet from the plate but put the craziest spin on the ball that I've ever seen and some how got it to bounce fair for a base hit (I swear to you, the ball was spinning in one direction then changed in mid-air to spin another direction. I've never seen a ball do that...ever).

The game was never really in doubt, we led 10-3, then 15-3 and finished with a 17-6 victory (the final 3 runs were unearned due to an unnamed left fielder who decided to take his eye off the ball on a routine pop-up and dropped what was a sure out). The game would have been boring if not for an irate shortstop from Eastminster in the first inning (you'll have to ask your local JD Softball member to tell the story), but we kept our cool and kept our bats going to improve our record to 4-1.

Next week it's the Roadies at 7:30.
