Game #7 - Mauldin Methodist

What looked like another easy win turned into a grind-it-out 1 run game to seal 2nd place in the league.

We started the first inning with 5 runs, then followed with another run in the 3rd to raise the score to 6-1, but then our bats went cold. We couldn't seem to get anything going during the middle innings capped off by Scott Elwart stranding 2 runners in scoring position in the 5th. Meanwhile Mauldin kept coming. The scored 2 in the 3rd to cut it to 6-3, then 3 in the 4th to tie and 1 in the 5th to go up 7-6.

Ryan Fisher led off the top of the 6th with a double then was followed by Josh Mangan's 2 run home run to right (he was 1-3 with 2 RBI and the game winning homer). Mark Gerdy was 3-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Alex Perez had a double. Victor Angon had a double. Julia Mangan extended her hitting streak to 3 hits in 3 at bats. Lorene Lake had an RBI.

We won 8-7.

Playoffs begin 8/23 at 8:30pm, we'll play the winner of the Rocky Creek/Roadies play-in game. Can you hear that?.....it's the sound of a back-to-back championship wanting to come home to JD.
